To be honest I was having a dream one night about running a great web site. I really don't like working unless I enjoy the work that I do. I used to run some fun web sites in the past but I was never able to make a go of it. Then a few nights before this site actually launched, I had a dream, much like a Field of Dreams moment.

I thought of a web site that was a dictionary with words that were abandoned and unabandoned. I also thought of a way to give back to communities while making money for me to survive and focus on the web site. This is where the Abandoned Word came to be.

The first thing I wanted to do is build the web site so that 20% of the revenues go to charity. I couldn't figure out what charity to give to and I was sure everybody had a different opinion so I decided to include as many charities as possible. I have contacted all of these charities to let them know about this initiative.

Abandoned Word is a web site that sells a fun environment and advertising on the pages of words. We then collect money and distribute it quarterly to charities across the world.

I can't quite make a living off a site like this. Everybody from the guys that process the money and hosting the site seem to take up most of it. But I am glad that I can commit 20% of all of the revenues to charity. That's the goal and always will be.

I am out buying words, are you? It's pretty simple. Find the word you like and click the buy button. You'll run through some stuff with PayPal to charge your credit card $5 dollars and then voila. Upload a banner or simlpy create a link to your web site. You get the ad for a whole year, no questions asked.
